Susan Van Hemert says:
Imagine the sounds of the jungle as the sun rises to the bugler's Last Post or the crowd as it hummed with the bagpipes as they played Amazing Grace. The dawn service at the hellfire Pass was an unforgetable experience. We saw the beautiful countryside, relaxed at the Jungle Rafts, visited the Mon Village and paid our respects to the Prisoners of War who worked on the railway. van Hemert Family, Canning Vale, Western Australia
Introduction: Anzac Day services are held around the world, not just at Anzac Cove at Gallipoli. If you are planning on being in Thailand on Anzac Day, or would like to experience the memorial service somewhere different, why not join us for Anzac day at Hellfire Pass? 25th April, the date that Australians and New Zealanders mark as their annual Remembrance Day of the battle at Gallipoli, is a time to remember and pay tribute to the heroes of the battle. Every year there is a Dawn Service at Hellfire Pass, followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum, and a Memorial Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Kanchanaburi Allied War Cemetery, all of which we attend. Not only does this short 4-day trip allow you to join in the Anzac Day events, but you also spend 2 nights at Hintok River Camp, located near to Hell Fire Pass. There is time to walk along part of the Hellfire Pass railway, and time for options such as elephant rides and bamboo rafting, and optional visits to a Mon village and Lava Cave.
